A niche post for England… so a brief introduction for overseas subscribers:
English, Welsh and Northern Irish A Level students (aged 16-18) had their examination results today.
In England, there are three major Exam Boards:
AQA - based in Manchester and Guildford
Edexcel (Pearson) - based in London, and Rotherham (yes, really).
OCR - based in Oxford and Cambridge (and Birmingham).
[Some English students take an exam from the Welsh Exam Board, but their numbers are low]
In terms of results, at the top of the academic range, this table shows an interesting comparison.
One of the exam boards has a higher proportion of students from the independent school sector. I wonder if you can guess which one??
Hi Dave, hope you are well? Do you have a source for this info and do you know if it is also available for GCSE please? Best, Heather
