Forwarded this to my daughter's Head of Geography as they are taking yet another trip to Snowdonia in July (they have done so for countless years).

This was the response I gained:

A nice summary. However, spotted a mistake. Refers to a terminal moraine at the end of the valley. It isn’t, it is a slate industry tip. The moraines were down in the Irish Sea today!

Hello Emma. Thank you for your note, and the comment from the HOD. I have edited the original (I can do this sort of thing in Substack) to 'end moraine' rather than 'terminal moraine'. The HOD is probably right that the furthest moraine (i.e. terminal) may well have been where the Irish Sea has advanced since the last ice age. As to whether it is a moraine or a slate tip is probably open to debate - the Field Studies Council seems to think it is a moraine. I will take 'nice summary' as a compliment.

Anyway.... thank you for subscribing. It's nice to know I reach parents as well as teachers and students.
